The Acadiana Center for the Arts (AcA) is proud to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025, marking five decades of enriching the cultural landscape of South Louisiana. Originally founded in 1975 as the Acadiana Arts Council, AcA has grown into a key cultural institution, dedicated to supporting artists, fostering creativity, and engaging the public through diverse artistic programming. Over the years, AcA has become a vibrant hub for local talent and a beacon of cultural expression for the Acadiana region.
A Call for Community Stories
To commemorate this milestone, AcA invites the public to participate in its 50th Anniversary Community Storytelling Project. The goal is to create a special publication that highlights the personal stories, memories, and reflections of those who have been part of AcA’s journey. This publication will offer a rich tapestry of voices, celebrating the people, performances, and programs that have shaped AcA’s legacy over the years. Whether you have attended a performance, participated in an exhibition, or supported AcA in any way, your story is important and will be featured as part of this tribute.
How to Share Your Story
AcA encourages individuals to contribute their stories through written submissions, which can be made via an easy-to-use intake form. This form includes sections for each decade of AcA’s history, from its founding in 1975 to the present day, allowing participants to share their experiences from different time periods. Additionally, AcA is accepting photos and other memorabilia that highlight personal memories. For more details or questions, individuals can reach out to AcA’s marketing team at marketing@acadianacenterforthearts.org.
Looking Ahead to the Future
As AcA celebrates its past, it also looks ahead to the future. With plans to expand its reach and deepen its commitment to education and innovation, AcA is poised for another 50 years of making a positive impact on the Acadiana community and beyond. Cheers to the next chapter in Acadiana’s artistic journey!
