Course Description:
The Fire Extinguisher Training course provides participants with essential knowledge and hands-on experience in fire prevention, fire classifications, and proper fire extinguisher use. This training ensures employees understand how to respond safely and effectively to workplace fires, complying with OSHA’s Fire Extinguisher Standard (29 CFR 1910.157).
Topics Covered:
- Fire Basics: Understanding the fire triangle (heat, fuel, oxygen) and how fires start.
- Fire Classifications: Identifying different types of fires (Class A, B, C, D, and K) and selecting the appropriate extinguisher.
- Types of Fire Extinguishers: Overview of extinguisher types (water, foam, CO₂, dry chemical, etc.) and their applications.
- PASS Method: Step-by-step instruction on how to Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep for effective fire suppression.
- Emergency Procedures: When to fight a fire vs. when to evacuate, fire safety protocols, and emergency response planning.
- Hands-On Training (if applicable): Practical demonstration and participant practice using fire extinguishers.
